Palazzo Hotel Review

Palazzo, Las Vegas, owned by Las Vegas Sands Corp, while clearly one of the more luxurious hotels in Vegas, is also known as being environmentally friendly. Whereas luxury usually means garish waste and serious damage to the earth, Palazzo made history in 2008 by being honored with an LEED certificate from the US Building Council. But not so much the fact that they were “building green”, but the fact that they were the largest building project in the world to go green. “The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.” Indeed, Palazzo has the right to be proud after receiving this most prestigious award.

Further, although this feature may garner a few chuckles, the hotel is serious enough in its green endeavor to offer Valet Bicycle Parking. Interestingly, to reduce the hotel's footprint on the earth, forty-two percent of the building is open to the outdoors through impeccable landscaping, as well as a pool, fountain and terrace. Considerable steps have been taken to reduce the use of gallons of water, and heating is provided by natural sunlight skylights, as well as solar heating in the pools and hot water system. Any excess power is diverted elsewhere in the facility.

Luxury is known by many facets but in reality, you know a hotel room is lavish when the descriptions worry about the little things that other hotels would not even mention nor care to discuss. Here are some of the priorities at Palazzo.

• Oversized coffee table and ottoman
• Comfortable robes and oversized bath sheets
• Egyptian cotton sheets and a 400 count wool throw

In addition, the suites offer private work space including phone, fax, internet, printer and copier, as well as powder rooms in the bigger suites.

Another feature that says luxury is the on-site Lamborghini dealership. When your guests can afford to purchase a Lamborghini as an impulse item while on holiday, you know self-indulgence is the key. The huge showroom is also home to the only Koenigsegg dealer in the United States and passing through is not permitted. Entrance into the showroom carries an admission fee but souvenirs are provided at the end of the tour.

Lastly, the Palazzo pool area is impressive containing seven pools, four hot tubs, forty-one cabanas, private showers and change rooms. Cabanas include a telephone, television, safe, couch and chairs, refrigerator, ceiling fan, air conditioning, heating and a host. And to top things off, the restaurant beside the pool area is run by celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck!

A simple slogan but one taken very seriously, “You Deserve the Very Best. Your palace awaits... Please make yourself at home”.
