THEhotel at Mandalay Bay Hotel Review

THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, owned by MGM Mirage, a boutique hotel with no gaming, contains forty-three floors consisting of suites, restaurants, a gym and spa, billiards lounge, and a private entrance separate and distinct from Mandalay Bay. Every bit as opulent and self-indulgent, a chandelier of fifteen thousand hand blown glass spheres in the Mix restaurant, marble floors in the spa area, granite in the suite bathrooms, and incredible views of The Strip are characteristics of this luxury hotel.

One feature that appears to be rather unique and quite appealing is the encouragement of large numbers of guests. Many hotels limit how many people may stay in a room or suite but THEhotel is setup to receive twenty-five people in their unit called “The H Suite”. Complete with two plasma screen televisions in the master bedroom, sitting space, snack and wet bars, as well as in-ceiling speaker system to create surround sound, this suite is perfect for that weekend football extravaganza or a fancy bridal shower.

And not to be outdone by other famous chefs, THEhotel benefits from the inspiration and vision of Alain Ducasse who created the concepts used in “Mix”, the property's top-floor restaurant. According to The New York Times, “in the 1990s, Mr. Ducasse became the first chef in 60 years to win six Michelin stars at once... And in 1990, at 34, he was the youngest chef in France to be awarded three Michelin stars”.

The Mix Lounge is a favorite nightclub for both guests and locals. Music is spun by DJ s like DJ Frankie 808 and DJ P-Nut and the long, curvy area is floor to ceiling glass in order to see The Strip and the rest of the Vegas.

The spa area, called “the Bathhouse”, is an immense space with European styling. Clinical, white tables and chairs used for manicures impart the sense of cleanliness and serenity. Because of THEhotel's exclusivity, only registered guests may reserve spa services. Should locals wish to stay at this property, they are entitled to a substantial discount of fifteen percent off all spa services.

No entertainment is offered at THEhotel but as guests, they have full access to Mandalay Bay. And one would not want to stay so close and miss seeing the Shark Reef Aquarium, proudly displaying more than two thousand animals including the green sea turtle, fifteen species of sharks, the Kimodo dragon, the golden crocodile, and the lionfish. Lastly, for anyone traveling with children, they will be delighted with Disney's The Lion King performing at Mandalay Bay Theatre.
